Simple Potato Soup...And then some

This potato soup has always seemed a little bland to me so I rarely make it...but my husband LOVES potato soup so I decided to add my own little spin. Not much more ingredients, but much more zing. Enjoy!
Boil:
5 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
1 medium yellow squash, cubed
*Drain and set aside.
Put in saucepan & cook until thick:
2 Tbsp. butter, melted
4 cups milk
3/4 cup flour
1-1/2 Tbsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
After mixture is thick, add:
Cooked potatoes & squash
1-1/2 cups corn/1 can
3 slices cooked, crumbled bacon (or 1/2 cup bacon bits)
1 cup sour cream
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
*Serve immediately. Potato soup is a great catch-all; you can make different variations depending on what you have leftover in your fridge!
