Cherry Pie Bars

I had never thought to freeze these, but what a great idea Harmony had for our freezer exchange! My grandma makes these for us when we visit so they're one of my favorites!
2 c. sugar
1 c. butter, softened
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. almond extract
4 eggs
3 c. flour
1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 can cherry pie filling

Glaze:
1 c. powdered sugar
3 T. milk
1/2 tsp. almond extract

*Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a jelly roll pan. In a large bowl cream sugar and butter. Mix in vanilla and almond extract; mix til light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each egg. In a separate bowl mix flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add to sugar mixture and blend well.
*Spread about 1/3 of the batter into prepared pan, spread pie filling over batter. Drop teaspoons of remaining batter over cherries. Bake 30-35 minutes. While baking, prepare glaze. Drizzle glaze over bars once they are completely cooled. After glaze has set, cut into bars.
